On November 2, 2024, the Mena Musical Masters Talent Show came to a thrilling finale, marking a pivotal moment for our new organization. The event was more than a competition—it was a celebration of music, creativity, and the power of community. As we reflect on the journey leading up to that unforgettable day, we are filled with gratitude for everyone who made it possible.
A Stage for All
With 32 contestants, the talent show featured a wide array of performances that delighted and moved audiences. From solo instrumentalists to vocalists, every participant brought something unique to the stage. The event showcased not only the incredible talent in Mena but also the courage of individuals stepping into the spotlight.
For some, this event marked the beginning of their journey in overcoming personal challenges. Melissa Hartin, one of the contestants, shared her journey of battling stage fright:
“I want to say thank you to Mena Musical Masters for giving me the opportunity to get on the stage as I am working through a severe case of imposter syndrome…aka stage fright. This is a great addition to our community!”
Her courage was a reminder of how music has the power to uplift and empower.

The Power of Community
The success of the talent show was made possible through the incredible support of local sponsors, venues, and volunteers. Little Italy, which hosted the initial rounds of the competition, provided a fantastic space with a welcoming atmosphere. Contestants were encouraged to familiarize themselves with the venue, making it a hub for community connection.
The finale, held at Shady Mountain Events, hosted by Sharee Boyd, offered a perfect setting for the climactic conclusion of the event. Both venues played vital roles in the success of the competition, showcasing the collaborative spirit of Mena.
Sponsors like Union Bank, Walmart, and McDonald’s further contributed to the event’s success, ensuring that contestants, attendees, and organizers alike had the support they needed. As Mark D. Smith shared:
“To everyone involved—contestants, organizers, and supporters—I want to extend my thanks and congratulations on creating a great environment for musicians to share with the public and each other the music that is inside of them.”
Celebrating Talent and Achievement
The finale at Shady Mountain Events was the culmination of weeks of preparation and stunning performances. The judges had the challenging task of selecting three winners from a lineup of remarkable talent. Ultimately, William Hamilton, Isaac Hamilton, and Cody Davis took home the top honors:
- William Hamilton, with his exceptional violin performances, earned first place.
- His brother, Isaac Hamilton, captivated the audience and judges with his cello, securing second place.
- Cody Davis, whose artistry resonated with both the crowd and judges, took third place.
While these three contestants earned the prizes, the true celebration was for all participants, who demonstrated artistry, courage, and dedication. As John McLaughlin said:
“It was an awesome experience for both the contestants and the audience! Thank you, Lee, for starting this.”
Music’s Transformative Power
The talent show wasn’t just an event—it was a testament to the role of music in uniting and uplifting a community. Families, friends, and neighbors came together to cheer for their favorite performers, fostering a sense of camaraderie and pride in what Mena Musical Masters is striving to build. As one contestant’s family shared:
“You all have encouraged [us] to continue pressing on to hone their craft and create fresh arrangements.”
This sentiment embodies the mission of Mena Musical Masters: to create spaces where music can inspire, heal, and connect.

The Road Ahead
This first talent show was just the beginning for Mena Musical Masters. With the resounding success of this event, we’re excited to announce even more opportunities to celebrate music in 2025. Upcoming events include the Battle of the Bands in April and a Dream Day for the Kids at Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter in September. These events will continue to bring the community together while supporting meaningful causes.
